Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Volunteer at our school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community. If you have one day per term, month or week free, or even a couple of hours here and there, we would love for you to help at Merimbula Public School.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• helping in the canteen
• getting involved in the P&C
• listening to children read in the classroom or assisting with math lessons
• volunteering on sports days and other school events

We look forward to welcoming you to Merimbula Public School! The processing of paperwork and online checks required by staff can take time. Please ensure you have met the requirements (as listed below), at least 1 week prior to commencement of volunteering.

• Provide 100 points of Identification to the MPS Administration Office,

• Complete the Digital Declaration  and

• Successfully create a Non-DOE account and complete the following courses through MyPL;

  • Code of Conduct;
  • Child Protection Induction
  • Child Protection Update

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is a dedicated group of parents, carers, and community members who work closely with our school to support and enhance the educational experience for all students.

Our P&C works in partnership with our school to:

• Assist with school planning and decision-making
• Organising fundraising activities and events
• Volunteering and supporting community initiatives
• Providing representatives for committees and merit selection panels

By joining the P&C, you’ll have the opportunity to meet other families, get involved in meaningful ways, and contribute directly to the future of our school. We would love to have you on board!

P&C meetings

Meetings are held by the P&C each term (where possible). Dates, times and locations for meetings are determined at the yearly AGM and may be amended as required. Upcoming meeting are advertised through the Newsletter and school calendar on Compass.

P&C Meetings are an opportunity to hear about what is happening with the P&C and at school. P&C decisions are made at these meetings. A representative from the school attends meetings where possible, or provides a report for the meeting.
