Merimbula Public School continues to be committed to excellence, opportunity and success. The school provides a caring, friendly environment in which students experience a variety of academic and extra-curricular activities designed to cater for their individual needs. The students of Merimbula School reach the highest level in a range of sporting, performing arts and academic ventures.

"Our school continues to embrace innovative technology to compliment our award winning literacy and numeracy teaching and learning programs, including our whole school synthetic phonics program which has led to high results in spelling, reading, grammar and punctuation for a number of years"  shared principal Ms Michelle Hulme.

"Our school has first class facilities and award winning staff and programs. staff continue to be recognised for their outstanding efforts in embracing public education. During the Learning From Home time, our staff continued to implement innovative and engaging programs. staff taught via online Google Classrooms. We had students reading virtual readers and storybooks. Specialist teachers in Japanese, art,music and physical education taught via video lessons. We even supported families by ensuring that each child had access to a laptop or Chromebook. Students were able to borrow close to 200 devices from our school".

Merimbula Public School has been awarded over twenty State, Regional and Learning Community Awards for: Excellence in Teaching, individual teacher excellence and/or commitment to public education and extra-curricular activities beyond the classroom; and to staff and students for their leadership in a range of areas. They have been filmed in case studies for how to best teacher students with reading difficulties, disability and, recently, about how they work in partnership with Aurora College to offer virtual opportunity classes for gifted and talented students.

"Our staff members continue to work collaboratively with parents, caregivers, school networks and the community to educate and empower our children to be commited learners who develop resilience, creativity, literacy and numeracy skills, leadership and learning ability for life" shared Ms Hulme.

In addition to the school's outstanding arts program, the school is well known for offering a range of sporting opportunities. With support from local clubs and organisations, the school has seen their AFL team become State Champions and their Tennis team become State Champions twice in the last 10 years.

"We take pride in programming for the individual success of each child" shared Ms Hulme. "Every child in the school is cared. students with additional needs also have access to additional leaning support programs, support staff, support classes and other opportunities".

Merimbula Public School has enrolled 25 new students since March, forming an 18th class this term. The school is already busy taking Kindergarten enrolments for 2021 as well..
